Why do you work in this field?
Working in this field, I get to be in the business of saving lives, help people rediscover themselves, see families reunite, and clients become healthy. Itās so rewarding.
How long have you worked in this field?
Iāve been working in drug and alcohol treatment centers for about a year now, but have helped manage a sober living environment for going on 2 years.
What do you bring to the table?
What do you bring to the table: Iām a hard-working and adaptable individual who maintains healthy relationships with the clientele. I can handle stressful environments and situations in general, which I feel is important.
What are your āSuper Powersā?
I donāt let the stressors of life get to me. I stay positive, even under stressful circumstances.
What do you love about yourself?
I like that I avoid gossip (Iām an imperfect human, but I DO try to avoid it as much as possible) and that I have a can-do attitude.
Whatās your favorite positive quote?
There are so many good onesā¦but: āStay positive, work hard, and make it happenā comes to mind for me.
What words best describe you?
Intellectual, articulate, and compassionate.
Positive things you like to do?
Over the past year or so, Iāve discovered that I really like working with teenagers. I help run a youth ministry in Celebrate Recovery. I feel like teenagers can be really self-conscious and feel alone and if theyāre guided at the age theyāre at now, a substance abuse issue can later be avoided.
What do you like best about your job?
I like that Iām able to raise awareness about how truly dangerous drug use has become (and always has been, but especially with drugs like fentanyl on the rise). I also love watching and helping my clients achieve self-confidence and heightened self-esteem.
Whatās the greatest thing you ever did?
The greatest thing Iāve done is decided to stay clean. My recovery has opened so many doors for me, brought me closer to God, and helped me achieve my personal potential.
Do you have any skills or talents that most people donāt know about?
Iām decently musically talented. I can sing and want to get back into playing the guitar.
Who are your āmentorsā?
I have a great sponsor and some women in Celebrate Recovery who I look up to a lot.
What is something you think everybody deserves to have?
Thatās difficult to answer, but Iād say a chance, love, and forgiveness (even if forgiveness is seemingly impossible).
How do you see yourself?
Well, my life has not been easyā¦! (I know for many of us, itās not been easy)ā¦but Iām somebody whoās discovered I can laugh in the face of adversity. Iāve always kind of viewed myself as being ādifferentā ā for better or for worse. Iām an intellectual type (most of the time, haha!). I see myself as somebody whoās genuine and truly aspires to do the right thing in all circumstances.
